Shaina Amin

(শায়না আমিন)

Shaina Amin was supposed to be a dancer. She was learning from Shibly Mohammad. But she was interested in TV commercials from her childhood. Following photographer Iqbal Ahmed’s advice she did a photo session and then started with a successful commercial ‘Teen Duguney Panch’ for Sunsilk shampoo.

Later she became a successful model and worked for many commercials including Tibet Kodur Tel. She was chosen for many TV serials and single episode plays.

She was debuted in film by director Rubaiyyat for her film ‘Meherjaan’, a film on liberation war. Shaina Amin was highly appreciated for her performance in the film. But this film show was stopped in Bangladesh amid criticism that there is a positive Pakistani character in the film; love between a Pakistani soldier and a Bangladeshi woman is immaterial.

Unlike other performers Shaina Amin believes, big screen and small screen is not an issue for a performers. She says, audience response is the main thing.

Meherjaan was only the beginning. Shaina Amin worked for two other films Pitta and Putro Ekhon Poishawala. She is studying BBA at Lalmatia women’s college and determined to continue her study.
