Zakia Bari Momo is a popular figure in Bangladeshi television dramas. But she is not only an actress, she also learned dancing and singing from her childhood. She grew up in a culturally oriented family, her mother and father always inspired her; though many of her closed relatives and neighbors criticized that. But now they appreciate her performance on small screen.
Even her father in law encouraged her. Momo says, her mother’s contribution in her life was so important. Her mother was busy with teaching in college but she (her mother) always inspired and helped Momo. Her mother never ignored family responsibilities.
Momo was born on 14th August 1985 in Brahmanbaria. She grew up in district headquarter but she used to visit the capital Dhaka with her mother on every Friday to learn dance. She began to play harmonium when she was only three years of age.
Momo won Bangladesh Television child cultural competition show Notun Kuri Award in 1995 as a singer, she also won many other awards as a child artiste. In the year 2006 she participated on television reality show, LUX channel i superstar contest and won the first prize.
Earlier it was declared by prominent director Toukir Ahmed that he will take three actresses for his film Daruchini Dwip form that year’s LUX channel i competition winners and Momo played the main female character in that film. Among others Riaz, Munmun, Bindu, Asaduzzman Noor, Abul Hayat, Doly Zohoor, Mosharrof Karim acted on that film. The story of the film was written by noted novelist and director Humayun Ahmed. Momo won national film award for her performance in that film in the next year. She has also bagged Meril Prothom Alo Award.
Momo became a celebrity and started acting in TV serials and single episode dramas. She is also a model. She married to prominent director and dramatist Ejaz Munna and they have a son Udvash.
She started acting from her childhood and now she is always with acting and drama. She studied Drama and Dramatics from Jahangirnagar University; she was a brilliant student there. Momo believes honesty and hard work is always the key to success.
She is an admirer of Marilyn Monroe, Shabana Azmi, Rani Mukherjee, Subarna Mustafa, Aly Zaker and Asaduzzman Noor.
